A core Greek island ferry brand within Attica Group
Blue Star Ferries is one of the most recognisable names in Greek domestic ferry travel. Today it
operates within Attica Group alongside Hellenic Seaways, ANEK Lines and Superfast Ferries. That
group structure matters when planning a trip because the shared booking environment can combine
brands, vessels and routes while still presenting the journey through a single digital account and
the seamore app.
The Blue Star brand is especially associated with long-distance conventional ferries from Piraeus to
the Cyclades, Dodecanese and North Aegean. The current official fleet page lists nine passenger
ferries — Blue Star 1, Blue Star 2, Blue Star Naxos, Blue Star Chios, Blue Star Myconos, Blue Star
Paros, Blue Star Delos, Blue Star Patmos and Diagoras — plus the freight ro-ro vessels Blue Carrier
1 and Blue Carrier 2.
For travellers, the practical strength of Blue Star is the combination of island coverage and
vehicle capacity. A single sailing can carry foot passengers, families, cars, motorcycles,
motorhomes and freight, while many ships also offer cabins, air-type seats, restaurants, cafés,
Wi-Fi, pet accommodation and facilities for passengers with reduced mobility. Because Greek ferry
schedules respond to season, demand and weather, the useful question is not simply “Does Blue Star
serve this island?” but “Which ship and route pattern serves it on my date?” FerryEU therefore uses
